The Best Sloppy Joe Recipe

Ingredients

– 1 lb ground beef – 1 small onion, diced – 1/2 green bell pepper, diced – 1 cup ketchup – 2 tbsp tomato paste – 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce – 1 tbsp brown sugar – 1/2 tsp garlic powder – 1/2 tsp salt – 1/4 tsp black pepper – 1/4 cup water – Hamburger buns

Instructions:

Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Break it up as it cooks until no longer pink, then drain any extra grease from the pan.

Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.

Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Mix until everything is combined well with the beef mixture.

Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Pour in water and stir. Let the mixture simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes until thickened.

Toast hamburger buns for extra flavor. Spoon a generous amount of the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve warm. Great with fries, pickles, or a fresh side salad for a complete, tasty meal.
