– 2 cups all-purpose flour – 1/2 tsp salt – 3 large egg yolks – 1 large egg – 1/4 cup sour cream – 1 tbsp sugar – 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted – 1 tsp vanilla extract – Oil for frying (vegetable or canola) – Powdered sugar (for dusting)
In a bowl, combine flour and salt. In another bowl, whisk egg yolks, egg, sugar, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix wet and dry ingredients together to form a smooth dough.
Knead the dough on a floured surface until elastic, about 5 minutes. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes (optional, for easier rolling).
Roll out dough very thin (1/8-inch). Cut into strips about 1 x 4 inches. Slice a small slit in the center of each strip and pull one end through to create a twist.
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry a few cookies at a time for about 30 seconds per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
Cool slightly, then generously dust with powdered sugar. Serve fresh and crispy!
