Easy Sourdough Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

– 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – 1 cup active sourdough starter (fed and bubbly) – 1 cup warm milk (about 100°F) – 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted – 1 tbsp sugar – 1 1/2 tsp salt – 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)

Instructions:

Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine sourdough starter, warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt. Mix in flour gradually until a soft dough forms.

Knead: Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add a little more flour if it’s too sticky.

First Rise: Cover the dough and let it rise at room temperature for 4–6 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shape Rolls: Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover and let rise again for 1–2 hours, until puffy and touching.

Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush tops with egg wash (optional) and bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown.

Cool & Serve: Let cool slightly. Serve warm with butter or jam!
