– 2 cups all-purpose flour – 1 tbsp baking powder – 1 tsp salt – 1 tbsp sugar – 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed) – 3/4 cup cold milk
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper so the biscuits don’t stick and brown evenly for perfect texture.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. This dry mix forms the base of your biscuits and ensures even rising when baked.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs. Cold butter creates those delicious flaky biscuit layers.
Pour in the cold milk and gently mix just until the dough comes together. Do not overmix—this keeps the biscuits light, soft, and fluffy.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Pat it gently to 1-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter. Avoid twisting the cutter to help them rise better.
Place biscuits on the prepared sheet, edges touching. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden. Let cool slightly before serving warm with butter or jam.
